I would ask them individually what they would prefer. it might be nice to have them involved if they would like to be.

46:37
Sorry, everyone.. please disregard that message

01:04:03
We can also link survivors/victims with Victims of Crime.

01:10:45

01:15:03
We titled it "Leah's Powerful Video"

01:18:07
Please feel free to also use the private chat feature if you wish.

01:18:21
Agree @ Priscilla = regarding men as victims as wel

01:18:25
I was struck by the line " we're you rape raped or just roughed up during sex"

01:18:40
@Mary I agree

01:18:46
Like what?!?

01:19:33
Unfortunately, this is why a lot of survivors choose to stay quiet. The humility behind speaking up can be extremely shaming.

01:21:46
Agree @ Erica, fear of retaliation is another reason survivors remain quiet.

01:28:41
This is so true, I never thought about it like that.

01:29:10
Domestic violence is a learned behavior

01:29:56
And letās remember that the person wasnāt impaired just prior to taking that first drink or that first hit on a bong.

01:35:20
What happens in the event where an individual says yes at first and then later says no?

01:35:41
Great question, Ciara!

01:36:14
No means No

01:36:15
I think that is the importance of getting consent every step of the way.

01:37:01
Just started watching it!

01:37:21
I saw that on Netflix the other day. I'm going to watch it now.

01:37:39
Agree @ Priscilla - watching now.

01:38:00
Also, he is a powerful member in Parliament

01:38:35
@Joanna itās so crazy how factors like that play a part

01:39:03
^^

01:40:12
Wow! thanks for sharing that Ara.

01:40:40
Yes, thank you Ara. Great question and sharing that difficult experience.

01:41:02
Thatās why itās always good to check in with your partner and respecting each otherās boundaries

01:41:52
So good, SHirley!!

01:45:17
@Ara, I think there are other factors that also may play a part. Maybe the individual showed gestures that expressed they were uncomfortable or they wanted to stop and they felt that was enough for the actions to stop.

01:47:03
@Ciara, I concur with what you have said. That is certainly one scenario that is very plausible and perhaps even common. My scenario was about the possibility that someone may have given no signals of negativity or hesitation, and then ācame to her sensesā the next day and felt real regret.

01:51:19
That conversation after the act of intercourse is crucial!!

01:52:14
@Brandon I think this is so true. I think it also shows accountability, love and respect.

01:54:06
@Leah are there any resources that show terminology that can be used if the abuser is present and an individual needs help
